MEPA - Cistern palletising

MEPA, based in Rheinbreitbach, Germany, wanted to make the packaging process for cisterns and washbasins even more efficient and automated. With an innovative and multifunctional production system, Profipack supplied a solution which, after close consultation with the customer, met all the requirements of the enquiry in terms of performance and product specification.

Due to the limited space available and an extremely compact solution from Profipack, the order went to the Tyrolean company. With the new system, the customer can not only automatically unfold the cartons, but also palletise the product directly onto the pallet and have it packed ready for transport.

Thanks to good project planning, rapid design implementation and an ingenious installation team, the system was installed in just 12 days, from machine installation to final commissioning.

The following machine technology was used in Profipack's turnkey solution for this project:

- PROFIROB palletiser / case erector

- PROFITRANS pallet conveyor

Technical details of the system supplied

Robot

The PROFIROB jointed-arm robot, capable of handling loads of up to 180 kg in six axes, is used not only to unfold the carton and handle the pallet, but also to palletise the finished packaged product. In order to work efficiently, the operator is able to push the next product into the carton during the palletising process.

Transporteure

In the system described, roller conveyors are used to transport fully stacked pallets to a fully automatic wrapping machine. Roller conveyors consist of a series of powered rollers that move the pallets efficiently. The pallets, which can contain a variety of goods, are placed on the conveyor and safely transported to the wrapper. The fully automatic wrapper then wraps the pallets in stretch film to secure the load and protect it from damage. Once wrapped, the pallets are ready for further transport. This method saves time and labour and increases safety.
